This is going to be a great article.. we will cover a few areas as to different tools you need to install in your computer to enjoy every single file you download.
Let’s start!
Winrar, number one archiving tool. I have been using this app for the last four years. I tried also Winzip, TugZip, 7-Zip and some not so popular ones. No matter what I always go back to my favorite Winrar ( get it for free ). If you don’t want to try a pirated version, you could then use a great free alternative called 7-Zip.
Winmount, another great paid program. Among all good stuff that is downloaded you will find image files such as ISO, BIN, NRG, etc.. and Winmount <get it for free> is my number one app to handle these type of images. It will create a virtual drive in your computer and emulate the image file as if it was a real installation CD. You will save unnecessary CDs for burning and you will save time. A free alternative for this job can be Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel by Microsoft, it works under Xp only… if you are a vista or se7en user, you will have to turn to a different but excellent one like CloneDrive from Slysoft. This little one works under all operating sytems and also with the 64bit platform.
ImgBurn, the best burning app you can get for free. If you don’t feel like mounting an image with the above mentioned apps… not to worry, you can burn the image to a CD. And ImgBurn will do just fine, this program actually handles all your burning needs. You need to burn an mp3 CD No Problem! You need to burn a DVD/HD-DVD/Blue-Ray No Problem! Get this great program at its website.
K-Lite Codec Pack, if not the best.. this is the most used pack when it comes to audio/video codecs needed in your pc. Codecs are very important to be able to watch movies you download. How many times you have clicked on a movie just to get a blank image or just the video and no sound! Now, after installing this app.. you will be able to play all formats in your pc. There is also a 64bit supported file, grab it here. I use Vista 64bit and I now use VistaCodecPack by Shark007, it also runs on all versions of XP
Gom Player, one of the best media players out there. I have a few favorites but I definitely prefer Gom over them. It has by default support for files such (XviD, DivX, FLV1, AC3, OGG, MP4, H263). This means you don’t have to install codecs if you don’t want to. It also features a screen capture option along with codec finder, that is right! If you ever play a video and you can’t see anything.. this player will search online for the right codec for you to install. Sweet!! Other great alternatives are VLC player, Windows Media Player Classic Home Cinema.
AVStoDVD, the easiest way to transform any video to DVD. If you want to have physical copy of a movie you have downloaded, this tool will help you achieve it. It is a great freeware application and it comes bundled with imgburn and avisynth ( programs needes for burning and script writing ). Very straight forward, add movie and start process.
These are the tools I use and I recommend you to use. With them in your pc, you won’t ever run into problems at the time of watching a movie or listening to an album you have downloaded. Enjoy!
